Stauros International was founded in 1973 by the Congregation of the Passion. Stauros U.S.A. is a regional branch, created for the purpose of helping people find meaning, hope, and peace in the midst of suffering. We accomplish this task in several ways.
  1. We publish a quarterly journal, entitled Suffering: The Stauros Notebook, available in both print and CD versions.

  2. Every other year, we sponsor a conference on an important issue of suffering. In 2007, “Suicide: They Die Too Young” addressed youth and young adult suicide.

  3. When the political situation allows, we take a Bible study trip to the Holy Land for people living with disabilities, each of whom is paired with an able-bodied companion. Fr. Don Senior, president of Catholic Theological Union, leads the study portion of this unique trip, which offers access to holy sites that would otherwise be impossible for those with disabilities.

  4. We send out a monthly e-reflection to anyone who wishes to receive it. This one- to two-page essay is filled with inspiration, challenge, and hope.

  5. We offer daily prayers with our Circle of Compassion prayer registry.

In all we do, we live out Christ’s mission of compassion to those most in need. Join us by subscribing to the journal, receiving the free monthly reflections, participating in our conferences and trips, submitting prayer invocations, or donating to this unique and valuable organization. Become part of the Stauros family, ministering on behalf of all those who suffer.
